My Quilting Resolutions – blog hop

25 Comments on My Quilting Resolutions – blog hop

Welcome to my stop on the My Stitching Resolutions blog hop hosted by Carla of Creatin’ in the Sticks. I have lots of unfinished projects. I certainly need to work on finishing them. But, my resolution for 2021 is more specific and doable. I have a number of projects that are almost finished – they are quilted but need just a binding or facing. My stitching resolution for 2021 is to sew on a binding/facing for one of my “almost finished” project each month. The rest of this post lists some of my projects that need just a few hours of work to be totally finished!

Twinkling – I made this for the the Winter Blues blog hop in January 2020. It will go to a friend who had a birthday in December. I hope to finish it soon and gift it to her. The binding is cut and ready to go.

Hopscotch Tiles – I finished this in June of 2019. This is also a gift, but due to Covid and travel restrictions, I haven’t met the recipient this year. Hence the procrastination on the binding. Again, the binding for this quilt is cut and ready.

Purple Mountain Majesty – Completed in August 2019. It needs a hanging sleeve. This will hang in our bedroom in the wall space meant for a big TV. We don’t watch much TV and certainly not in the bedroom. This quilt will remind us of all our hiking trips.

Centered goes minimal is from a QAL by Sandra Walker of mmm! Quilts. I had machine trouble when I finished this. It needs binding. I was debating whether to use a single binding or match the binding to the grey and white outer sections.

Buzzing Geese is from August 2020. Needs a binding. This is too big for a wall quilt. There have been several pattern requests for this quilt. I am working on it. I need to finish writing and send it to a few testers.

Winding River is from February 2020. It needs some more quilting in the purple and blue sections. I need to finish that and the binding. I have pattern requests for this as well. I need to finish up the pattern and send it to testers.

Circular is from May 2019. I am not happy with the quilting in some areas. I need to pick out the stitches and redo them. This is why I’m putting off working on this. This will make a striking wall quilt when all the issues are fixed.

I love all the quilts and hope that you get the bindings done to keep your Resolutions. Finishing quilts is sometimes the hardest part and I also think it is because we have enjoyed the making and don’t want to end it!!!! Have a wonderful 2021. Hugs & Love, Susie xx

Lovely quilts, and attaching the binding is the final step before they got finished, such a reward! Too years ago I learnt how to bind a quilt entirely by machine, a great technique.

Unless a quilt is headed for show, I do all my bindings fully by machine (so much faster and stronger). Love them all but the circle quilt is fav.

Oh my goodness, those are some beautiful quilts to finish…wow! I have a few quilts that just need binding and it’s so sad that they are waiting for me to finish them. I hope you can take the time to work on them because they are all incredible quilts. Happy New Year!

I only wish I had that many UFO’s just waiting for binding. I enjoy handsewing down the binding, so I don’t find it a chore. My problem is getting the quilting done, I don’t have a long-arm and can’t afford to quilt them all by check, so the flimsies have piled. I find that happens when a project didn’t have a deadline/purpose (ie gift or donation). When a squirrel runs by or a bright shiny object catches my eye, I put aside the tops and start something new. Bad habit, I need to work on.

Such a beautiful assortment of quilts. I have a stack of quilts like you that just need a few hours and they would be ready to go. This is a great idea, to list them and then it’s so much easier to mark them off the list. I need to do this. Thank you and Happy New Year!

What a wonderful collection of “almost dones”. Now that you have pulled them out and revisited them you are ever so much closer to getting them done. Best wishes in that regard.
