Baby James Quilt Two – Row Addition

IMG_0962

This is my second quilt for the Baby James memorial quilt project. Quilt one is here. Some background from my previous post: A quilter from an online quilt forum I visit often lost her grandson three days after he was born due to a birth defect. Her son and DIL are expecting another baby later this year, and grandma wants to donate a quilt in baby James’s memory to all the babies in the nursery when the new baby is born. I am honored to make a few quilts for her.

This is the Row Addition pattern from the book Modern Plus Sign Quilts by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs and Paige Alexander of Quilted Blooms.

The fifth grader grew up and graduated from college last month but I still had bits of fabric from this quilt.

IMG_0961For the baby James project, I wanted to make gender-neutral quilts but this does not even pretend to be one! I quilted one period of a sine wave in the middle and echoed it up and down.

This pattern was easy and quick and looks striking no matter what fabric you use. I think it is perfect for a baby quilt.

Size: 40″x 45″

These impatiens are the only flowers surviving this week of brutal Texas heat with temperatures consistently about 102 F (39 C).

This is a beauty. This quilt is in the lineup for me to make as well. The quilt donation is a lovely idea.

Sine Curve!!! Showing off your engineering again :-p Love the bright colors and the plus pattern. I am sure all bright colors are good for the baby’s reflexes – hot pink or neon yellow. I am happy to send you the third quilt for this noble cause. The Quilt of Pi is yours for the asking. Just let me know. Hugs to you.
