January Plans

I want to wish everyone a wonderful, creative and fulfilling 2020! I start the year with some exciting news and projects.

I am so happy that I will be an Island Batik Ambassador again this year. This is my second year. Island Batik and their partners, Hobbs, AccuQuilt, Aurifil and Schmetz send us a couple of boxes filled with goodies during the year. We are required to make a project every month and show it on out blog, Instagram or Facebook pages. We already got our first shipment with lots of goodies. More on that in a couple of weeks!

I will be participating in the Winter Blues blog hop hosted by Carla of Creatin In the Sticks this month. The Blog Hop runs Jan 20th to 24th.

I was tempted to start a new project in blue for the blog hop. Instead I decided to work on an unfinished project from a couple of years ago. I had made about 10 Ohio Stars in blues, greens and a few yellows. I made a few more in blue and put them together. Various batik stars on a Kona Sky background.

I want to make a 40″ X 40″ version of my Curve Illusions quilt as a baby quilt and add it to my pattern before putting the pattern in my Etsy store. I picked some bright blue and orange for the “curves” and two black and white prints for the background. This will be my One Monthly Goal for January.

The January Island Batik challenge is Scrappy. Needless to say I’m having too much fun with this project! This is what’s on my design wall currently.

Good Morning Vasudha! Oooh, love those stacks of scraps. They look like good books to me, just waiting to be read. Now that I read from my eReader, I don’t have stacks sitting around like that. But, oh to have that selection – rather like a public library! I look forward to seeing your downsized Curves post. I think that will make a wonderful baby-size quilt. Lastly, using up those Ohio stars in the Winter Blues hop is a fabulous idea. I need to get going on my project – it just needs to be quilted. ~smile~ Roseanne

That scrappy quilt is going to be terrific! I love the variation in height of the strips; it makes it so much more interesting than uniform ones. Congratulations on being an Ambassador.
