I have two patterns in the Island Batik Spring/Summer 2020 catalog. The first is A Gathering Place using the IB collection called Deco Revival designed by Kathy Engle. Look at the beautiful geometric Art Deco style prints and an unusual combination of colors.

The pattern includes two sizes – throw size (60″ x 84″) and baby size (48″ x 48″). The baby version uses Island Batik solids in cobalt, red, lime green and white. The baby quilt blocks and layout are similar to the throw quilt, but swapping the background and focus fabrics for a few blocks gives a totally different look.

This pattern was written and printed a few weeks ago, and I already have a few orders and enquiries from quilt shops. It has taken me a while to get all the ducks in a row, list them on ETSY and make a pattern release post.

The patterns are available on my Etsy shop here: StoriedQuilts314. They are 30% off till the end of November. I have both printed and digital patterns. Shipping is free within the United States. If you are a online or physical quilt shop, please contact me for wholesale orders.

I quilted swirls and feathers over most of the quilt but did some custom work where the square-in-squares units meet and make a small nook. A note on the  name for this pattern—A Gathering Place: Where the square in square units meet, it looks like they are gathering for a  little meeting. It reminds me of a little grassy knoll in a cul-de-sac, where neighbors meet to chat in the evenings.

For the baby quilt, I quilted straight lines over most of the quilted and made some free motion feathers in just the blue areas.

I will write about the other quilt in the IB catalog in a couple of days.

Hi Vasudha! Congrats to you for getting your pattern to the release stage and to have it in the IB Catalogue. That is just fabulous. {{Hugs}} The two different sizes really do look unique with the change of the colorways. Your quilting is always beautiful and it surely doesn’t disappoint this time. I’ll bet IB is thrilled to have selected you as an ambassador as you show their fabrics off to their best advantage. I can’t wait to see your second project. Happy Friday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

Congrats Vasudha! Yay for, coming in, as my good friend Joanne of Canuck Quilter Designs told me several years ago, “Come on in; the water’s warm,” when I was considering getting into releasing patterns. 🙂 I love this design!
